The
scientific-practical conference is a traditional program of
the International folklore festival in Veliko Tarnovo. From
the second addition in 1999 until now are implemented three
conferences and in a process of preparation is the fourth addition.
The first theoretical conference was devoted to the problems of the folklore
dance.
“The ceremony dance yesterday and today” was the topic of the second scientific-practical
conference in the summer of 2001.
The participants in the conference and the festival observed alive performances
of dervishes from Turkey and fire-dancers from Bulgaria. The showed dances
carried religious and traditional symbolism, messages and suggestions preserved
during the centuries and presented authentic to the contemporary public.
The third scientific-practical conference was held in the summer of 2002 in
the frameworks of the Fifth jubilee folklore festival Veliko Tarnovo 2002.
“The folklore music and dance today” was the topic, which united the points
of view of theoreticians and practicians in the area of the musical and dance
folklore, the scientific forum let down a bridge between the yesterday and
today explanations, creative searches and interpretations of the folklore music
and dance. In the discussion took part representatives of the Bulgarian - prof.
Todor Djidjev, prof. Nikolay Kaufman, Lachezaria Pavlova - choreographer-pedagogue,
Krum Georgiev - folklorist and Daniela Ivanova - ethnochoreolog, of the Turkish
- Dr.Cengiz Aydin and of the Serbian - Prof. Olivera Vasich, as well as leaders
of 15 dance ensembles, which participated in the Festival.
During the Third scientific-practical conference was born the idea of the topic
of the Fourth scientific-practical conference. Completely logical continuation
of the topic of the previous conference will be the formulation of the new
one “ The folklore dance - traditions and contemporaneity”. For a participation
are invited lecturers in universities in Greece, Macedonia and Croatia, who
will suggest trends, methods and practices of teaching and contemporary interpretation
of the teaching in folklore dance. Their theoretical and practical experience
will share scientific assistants from the Institute for folklore of BAS (Bulgarian
academy of science), lecturers from the universities in Varna and Blagoevgrad,
teachers in secondary schools with a specialized teaching in folklore dances
and choreographers of the folklore ensembles-participants in the Sixth international
folklore festival Veliko Tarnovo 2003.
