IFF 2007            

Up to this moment the Festival has been held tenth times. It was held for the first time in 1998. The traditional Centre of the Festival is the old capital of Bulgaria - the town of Veliko Tarnovo.
      During the previous festivals many concerts were held in the towns and villages in the region featuring both Bulgarian and international performers.

The beautiful natural surroundings of the region, the cultural and historic sites and the modern infrastructure allow for a variety of the performances.

The tradition of the Festival:

- Defiles;
- Concerts in the open;
- Evening concerts;
- Folk bazaar;
- A picnic;
- Ethno dance party;
- A fashion review;
- Concerts at the House for elderly people;
- Concerts at the Military school;
- A conference;
- The "Sound and Light" show;

FOLKLORE IN THE FINE ARTS

The programme is realized with the kind assistance of the State art gallery - Veliko Tarnovo.
Through this annual two-months lasting exposition the Festival directs a look to the other arts with the aim to present to the inhabitants and the guests of the municipality samples from the rich collections kept in the art galleries in different parts of the country. The exposition includes works of the fine arts, created by different authors, techniques and expressive means. Made in different times, they are united by the significance of the folklore and the fine arts as factors for an international collaboration.
For the period of the years 2000-2002 in the halls of the art gallery are presented works from the National art gallery - Sofia and the State art galleries in Lovech, Pleven, Pazardjik, Plovdiv, Yambol, Sliven, Veliko Tarnovo, Svishtov, Ruse, Silistra, Dobrich, Razgrad, Shumen, Strajitsa, Burgas, Kardjali, Dimitrovgrad, Smolyan and others. There have been presented paintings of Vladimir Dimitrov - Master, Vasil Stoilov, Dechko Uzunov, Dimitar Kazakov and others. Each year we also present one young, but already recognized creator.
This year the exposition will accent on the presence of the folklore dance in paintings from art galleries in South-West Bulgaria through the towns Gabrovo, Pernik, Kjustendil and Blagoevgrad. It will be presented the work of a young painter from Pernik town.


There is also held an annual plain-air for young painters.

"International Folklore Festival " Foundation is also the organizer of other significant cultural events and forums as a scientific-practical conference, considering the problems of the folklore and the competition Miss Festival.
