In the course of the tenth consecutive edditions of the festival took part, 136 folklore ensembles from 57 states in Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, as well as 78 Bulgarian folklore formations. During the 1998-2007 period guests and participants were more than 5100 friends of the world folklore art. Over 298 concerts have been held in 28 towns and 22 villages both in the region and throughout the country, which have been attended by more than 253 000 viewers.
        The Festival is said to be one of the biggest international folklore forums on the Balkans. It is a huge national event with world fame and a unique atmosphere.
        The eleventh International Folklore Festival will take place on July 19 - August 02, 2008. As organizers of the event, we have the ambition to enrich the participants' list with ensembles from many attractive cultures and ethnic origins.

        The Veliko Tarnovo International Folklore Festival has been granted the statut of a Festival of CIOFF /International Council of the Organizers of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts at UNESCO/.

  
Conditions for Participation

Application for participation must include: a videocassette, CD or DVD, presentation of the group / history, international presentation, awards or other information you consider relevant /; repertoire; 5 pictures of a good quality, suitable for scanning; individual photos of 2-3 women of the ensemble - for participation in the "Miss Festival" competition, held within the framework of the festival.
        Deadline for sending promotional materials and registration forms for participation - 31.01.2008.
        An Expert Commission consisting of renowned folklorists cares about the professional selection of the ensembles, participating in the festival.

Regulation

        The Festival does not involve competition between the participants.
        The dance formations must be prepared to participate in:
                - opening and closing of the festival - 10 - 15 minutes
                - concert programme - 60 minutes
                - concert programme - 30 minutes
                - defile in the main street of the town - fragments of 2 to 5 minutes.
        The participants' number in a single group must not exceed 25.
(including managers of the group, drivers, etc.)
        The costs for the people who are over this number will have to be paid additionally.
        The organizers will cover the bed and food costs of the ensembles.
        The transportation costs to Veliko Tarnovo will have to be covered by the dance formations themselves.
        All festival events - concerts, defiles, open performances, etc., are open to all free of charge.
