Cali is the second largest city in Colombia and is situated at the centre of the fertile Cauca river valley in the western part of the country.
The Group is from the University of Valle and takes its name from teacher, Carmen Lopez, who sadly died five years ago.

Now its Director and choreographer is Francisco Emerson Castaneda, who was part of the Group since 1984.
The 40 members of the Group are current and graduate students and staff of the University.
Performances will include traditions from all parts of Colombia and will reflect the Spanish, African and native of America influence which remains part of the Colombian culture.
A varied range for musical instruments will be used to accompany the dances.
Bright, colourful costumes from all regions will make spectacular presentations of exotic rhythms, polkas and some soothing lullabies and romantic items.
