The primary goal of this organization is to work for

understanding particularly in the field of folk art and folk culture.
It is open to festivals, groups and individuals who are based in Punjab state
and who are engaged in the field of folklore and those who support the aims of
Punjab Cultural Promotion Council.
Their artists have already participated in the number of national folk dance
festivals /under National Cultural Exchange Policy N.C.E.P. programs/ and international
folk festivals – Lithuania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, South Korea. The quality of the performed program is at very high
artistic level studied with cultural varieties and folk sensations. Group
of 12 to 20 folk artists, including dancers, singers, musicians and leaders
could perform at the same time and their program is based on dance concert
lasting from 20 to 45 minutes with bhangra, jindua and malvai gidha etc.,
each dance component of 15 minutes duration. The dancers perform in different
sequences, in circles; take double-standing actions sometimes, create
romantic scenes as well.
Whereas musicians play drums /dhols/, bugchu, katos, saaps, khundas, chimtas
etc. /all traditional instruments/ they also dance holding and playing these
folk instruments. High pitch dhol beats create sensation among dance lovers.
The dancers sing couplets, boliyans, and also songs making the event more interesting.
Some folk dances of Punjab and India involve both boys and girls.
The dancers look very attractive in their traditional dresses, turbans, suits
and ornaments and perform exotic, energetic, foot tapping dances.
