In 1970 in the District House of culture of Daugavpils, second largest city of Latvia, Irena Braslavska started her work by establishing a dance group - "Liksme".

After 9 years of creative work and receiving a laureate title at the republican public showing, LR Ministry of Culture has awarded the group a Folk Group name. The Latvian well-known choreographers - E.Drulle, I.Magone, A.Baumane, J.Purvins - presented this group with their dances.
The program of the "Liksme" dance group includes character dances, ethnographical dances, as well as arrangement of these dances. 24- is the average age of the "Liksme" dance group's participants. They are students, clerks, and employees of education, police, trade, and guard.
Full of life the dances of "Liksme" glorified the name of Latvia in Lithuania, Russia, Moldavia, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
In 1992 Irena Braslavska resigned her commission to her dauther Aija Daugele.
In 1996 the Daugavpils District Municipal Council awared to Aija Daugele the highest prize in the fiel of culture - laureate title "For Valuable Contribution to the Development of Regional Culture". In 1998 Irena Braslavska received the same laureate title "For Lifetime Contribution to the Regional Dance Arts Development", too.
